A little history

In January of 2016, two friends—Gabe Dao and Kristopher VanBecelaere—packed everything they owned into a 1993 Chevy conversion van and headed west from Tulsa, Oklahoma. What started as a search for adventure, clarity, and a different way of living quickly became something bigger. Over eight months, they crossed ten states, logged thousands of miles, and immersed themselves in the wild spaces of the American West—from the Sierras of California to the Cascades of Washington.

Between national parks, longboarding sessions, pickup basketball games, and countless miles of open highway, they stumbled onto something new: disc golf.

That spark ignited in Colorado, when a friend handed them a few extra discs and took them to Johnny Roberts Disc Golf Course in Arvada. One round was all it took. They bought starter packs immediately—and never looked back.

From there, disc golf became part of the rhythm of the road. Courses across Denver, Boulder, and deep into the Rockies shaped their days. Nights were spent camping, watching disc golf videos, and dreaming about what the sport could become. When summer ended and they returned home to Tulsa, they found a thriving local disc golf scene that welcomed them in.

New friends followed. New ideas followed faster.

What began as casual rounds turned into tournaments, road trips, and eventually a shared vision: telling disc golf stories through media. With a used drone, smartphones, and a lot of hustle, the crew began filming fly-throughs and local tournaments—creating content that gave players a new way to experience courses and competition.

That momentum grew into something real.

Coverage expanded. Production improved. Audiences grew. Breakthrough moments—like Eagle McMahon’s ace at the 2018 Oklahoma Open—helped push their work onto a national stage. What started as a passion project evolved into trusted coverage for major events and a respected voice within the disc golf community.

But at its core, the mission never changed.

Go Throw is about movement.

Go Throw is about movement.

Today, Go Throw continues to create, support, and celebrate disc golf culture through media, products, and community-driven projects. Everything we do is rooted in the same spirit that launched that old van onto I-40: curiosity, grit, and a love for the game.

Thanks for being part of the journey.

Now—go throw.
